The Haruv Institute was established by the Schusterman Foundation - Israel in 2007, with the mission to enhance the knowledge-base, as well as to develop advanced educational programs, for professionals and allied care-givers who work with abused and neglected children, and their families. The Institute is committed to high quality and excellence, and endeavors to find solutions to the myriad challenges facing professionals who work with this population.

 

The Hard Facts


 

In 2011, 344,438 Israeli children were considered to be at risk of abuse or neglect—double the number a decade earlier.

 

In 2010, 47,184 Israeli children were referred to child protection officers as a result of suspected abuse. Of those, 33% were cases of neglect; 28% physical abuse; 12% sexual abuse; and 8% emotional or psychological abuse
