Goal: To train workers to detect and identify suspicion of child abuse, and provide intervention tools to protect the children and provide therapy for the abused child.

Target Population: Social workers in the Rehabilitation Department of the Ashkelon Municipality, social workers in rehabilitation frameworks within the community.

Social Sexual Education – Identifying and Preventing Sexual Abuse of Children and Adults with Autism

In Partnership with:  The Association for Children at Risk (NGO)

Goal: There is great importance in granting educational and therapeutic solutions to both children and adults with autism, to their families and educational and therapeutic milieu, in order to enable them to exercise their rights in the social-sexual field in a healthy, suitable and protected manner, while avoiding situations of exploitation, danger and abuse.

Target Population: Psychologists, social workers, physical therapists, occupational therapists, speech therapists who treat children and adolescents with autism at the  Association for Children at Risk.

Lecture on Sensory Processing as a Therapeutic Tool for Children with Special Needs, Victims of Abuse and Neglect

Goal: Processing disorders are typical of child victims of violence, and so much more so for children with special needs, who frequently also need to cope with difficulties in sensory processing. Along with the awareness of difficulties that may result from sensory deficiencies and the manner in which these children experience the world, the sensory channel can also serve as a processing channel and therefore constitutes an important tool in the therapeutic process. The lectures provide a basis for developing sensory systems alongside guiding principles that can be utilized in the sensory channel as a processing factor in therapy.

Target Population:  The therapists at the SHEKEL Treatment Center
