Beit Lynn
The Beit Lynn Protection Center for Children and Youth in Jerusalem is one of eight protection centers in Israel. It is operated by the Efshar non-profit organization for the development of welfare and education services.
This service, created in 2000, is the first of its kind to be established in Israel. It provides initial service to child and youth victims (up to the age of 18) of any kind of sexual abuse. The center also assists in cases of physical and emotional abuse committed by a responsible individual, and cases of minors exhibiting age-inappropriate sexual behavior (up to the age of 12).
The center offers the minor and their family initial support, diagnosis, investigation, and decision-making assistance, in a short time period, from a holistic viewpoint, focusing on the minor’s best interests.
Professionals from a range of disciplines collaborate interdepartmentally at the center: a juvenile justice social worker, a child protective investigator, a police youth investigator, a pediatrician, a representative of the Attorney General’s Office, and the Center’s director. In addition to the benefits of significant initial intervention, this path of action spares the minor and their family bureaucratic procedures that require long-term multiple interviews and examinations in various locations, thus curtailing investigation time and helping the police gather evidence instantaneously.
